Sami Ahmed is an excellent skilled artisan of Hand carving from Saharanpur (U.P.).
He is only earner and supporting his family, his parents, wife and 3 daughters.
Tarashnaa found Sami in struggling period when he was unable to fulfill his day-to-day need. When
we met him, he told his story about his hand carving work which he learned from his generations. He
uses to do it since childhood. But now he left it due to exploitation and no demand of good quality
work. He was selling vegetable on street side to bring some earning to his family. He was unable to
pay school fees, so kids stopped going to school.
Tarashnaa checked his work which was amazing, employed with good salary and given good working
environment. He is happy now and running his family well.

of life. Thanks to a growing demand of handcrafted products that express stories of Indian heritage.
Our artisans now have regular work and pay fair wages and are able to send children to school.
There future generation will not have to struggle with poverty and will have equitable shots at their
dreams.
